The electrification of transportation is about more than passenger cars. We need to reduce emissions from public transport, freight and transportation of goods. Furthermore, it does not stop on land, we need to electrify our seas as well. Are these processes going quick enough?

With soaring energy prices from fossil fuels because of the war, renewable energy production is the solution. In combination with higher demand of electric energy from transport, we need to use smart and flexible charging solutions. Connecting renewable electricity production, grid connections, buildings, battery storage and electric vehicles in a smart system is essential.

The car industry’s work to replace production of fossil fueled cars with zero emission vehicles is happening now. Policies such as the American IRA and the European Green Deal combined with increasing consumer demands for cleaner vehicles, better technology- and driving experience, has helped propel this transformation.

An electric future is impossible without batteries. What is the status of the value chain for sustainable battery production?
