Ulrich Zimmer (DE)

Ulrich Zimmer is Senior Vice President TRATON Group R&D Battery & Charging and Managing Director of TRATON R&D Germany GmbH, where he leads the TRATON Group’s work on Battery & Charging technologies for the next generation of electric commercial vehicles. In this role, he is responsible for advancing key technologies that support the transition to more sustainable and efficient transport solutions.

He holds a diploma in Physics from the University of Tübingen and brings nearly three decades of technical and leadership experience to the commercial vehicle industry. Before taking on his current role in 2023, he served as Head of Powertrain Development at MAN Truck & Bus SE and also held senior leadership responsibility for Production Powertrain.

With his background across powertrain development, industrialization, and strategic R&D leadership, Ulrich Zimmer offers deep insight into the technological and organizational transformation required to scale high-voltage battery systems and charging solutions in heavy-duty mobility.
