Eric Ntagengerwa (ET)
Eric Ntagengerwa is a senior transport and infrastructure policy expert with over 20 years of experience in advancing aviation, multimodal transport systems, and regional integration across Africa.
He currently serves as Head of Transport and Mobility Division at the African Union Commission, where he leads the development and coordination of continental transport policies and infrastructure programmes aligned with Agenda 2063. In this role, he plays a central part in the implementation of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), promoting seamless air connectivity and liberalisation of African airspace, while also driving integration across road, rail, and air transport systems under the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA).
He also leads the development of sustainable mobility sector in Africa including the continental framework and implementation roadmap for electric mobility working with Member States, Regional Economic Communities and partners.
Prior to joining the African Union, he served as Principal Civil Aviation Officer at the East African Community, where he led regional aviation policy harmonisation and contributed to airspace integration efforts across Partner States.
He also held the position of Head of Transport Planning at the Rwanda Transport Development Agency, overseeing national transport planning and infrastructure development.
Eric holds a Master’s degree in Transportation Management and an IATA certification in Aviation Policy and Regulation. His expertise spans aviation policy, infrastructure development, climate-resilient transport systems, and trade facilitation, with a strong focus on building integrated, efficient, and sustainable transport networks across the continent.
