Senior Advisor
Norwegian EV Association

Ståle Frydenlund is a Senior Advisor and Test Manager at the Norwegian EV Association, and one of the longest serving members of the staff.

Since 2013 he has developed a high level of expertise within most aspects of the transition to electric cars, including batteries and charging. Battery safety and fire risk has been a professional matter of the heart to him throughout the years, to counter prejudice in society.

His close attention to fire safety topics was particularly motivated by the 1 January 2016 fire during supercharging of a Tesla Model S at Brokelandsheia, Norway. Fire statistics and media coverage of car-related fires has been a regular follow-up routine ever since.

Frydenlunds´s experience also comprises in-depth knowledge in all aspects of the Norwegian passenger car market and consumer preferences.

His tenure so far also includes real-life testing of 200 electric cars. Frydenlund is always eager to influence technological developments, to remove current obstacles. In recent years battery health (SoH) in electric cars has also taken up a lot of his time.

Frydenlund will moderate the Deep Dive session “Are electric cars the firebombs they are claimed to be?”
