Policy coordinator LDV Charging Infrastructure
The Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management

Pieter has been pioneering the transition to electromobility since its early days. For over 15 years he has championed the rollout of the first electric vehicles and charging stations in the Netherlands, and he remains committed to driving the shift to sustainable mobility. His current focus is on moving beyond the mere availability of charging infrastructure toward a user-centric market that invites all user groups to come on board.

Pieter is the policy coordinator for light-duty vehicle (LDV) charging at the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, and will represent the Directorate for Sustainable Mobility at the Nordic EV Summit. The Netherlands has been one of the front-runners in the promotion and adoption of electromobility, and Pieter will share the country’s insights on what the electromobility sector and its policies need in order to reach broader adoption.

Before joining the ministry, Pieter was one of the driving forces behind the creation of a dedicated regional government body for the Amsterdam area (MRA-Elektrisch) to manage electromobility. He later became manager of its charging infrastructure team, which oversaw the installation of tens of thousands of charging stations.

Pieter began his career as a consultant, and later as an independent consultant, initially focusing on innovation funding before gradually moving into the electromobility sector. He holds a Master’s degree in International Public Administration.
