Monica Araya (CR)

Monica is a senior adviser to various initiatives. She is Director of the Natural Resources Governance Institute (NRGI)’s Governing Board and a Board member at the Meliore Foundation. As Distinguished Fellow at ClimateWorks, she advises the Drive Electric Campaign and the Transition Minerals initiative.

She was a Special Adviser to the High-Level Champion for Climate Action at COP26 helping catalyze the ‘Acceleration to Zero’ coalition on electric vehicles. She co-founded the Costa Rican Electric Mobility Association. For her work advancing electric mobility, she was recognized as 100 BBC Women list and as Remarkable Woman in Transport. 

Monica was the Executive Director of the European Climate Foundation’s (ECF) and has been a member of several international and regional initiatives to advance pragmatic climate solutions. She is based in Oslo, Norway.
