Lars Mårtensson (SE)
Lars is the Environmental Director at Volvo Trucks, a global leader in sustainable transport solutions. He is responsible for driving Volvo Trucks’ environmental strategy across products and services, with a strong focus on reducing CO₂ emissions, increasing energy efficiency, driving circularity and accelerating the shift towards net-zero transport.
Under Lars’ leadership, Volvo Trucks has presented the first CO2-neutral automotive production plant in the world, introduced the first low carbon footprint steel (green steel) in trucks, expanded its portfolio of electric, gas and biofuel‑powered trucks and strengthened its position as a front‑runner in decarbonizing transports.
Prior to his current role, Lars held several senior positions within the Volvo Group, working across environmental management, strategy and regulatory affairs. Over three decades with the company, he has played a key role in integrating environmental sustainability into product development, manufacturing and customer solutions, and in representing Volvo Trucks in international industry collaborations such as Climate Neutral Freight Transports and Swedish Life Cycle Center and policy dialogues on decarbonization of transports.
Lars is active in the global debate on sustainable transport and is actively engaged in cross‑sector partnerships aimed at decarbonizing heavy‑duty road transport. He frequently speaks at international conferences and industry forums, sharing insights on how collaboration, innovation and clear policy frameworks can speed up the transition.
