Bent Vistisen is an electric mobility advocate and board member of Base2Charge with more than four decades of professional experience in IT systems, software, and project management within the financial sector. Based in Denmark, he has been an EV driver since 2012 and has followed the development of electric mobility closely from both a user and infrastructure perspective.

Through his work with Base2Charge, Bent has focused on the development and deployment of open and accessible EV charging infrastructure. The company develops charging solutions and charging management platforms designed to simplify the user experience and ensure broad accessibility to public charging networks. A core element of this approach is the ability for drivers to initiate and pay for charging directly with mobile payment solutions or credit cards, without the need for apps, subscriptions, or roaming agreements.

Over the past several years Bent has developed strong connections with the East African e-mobility ecosystem through frequent visits to the region, particularly Kenya. These engagements have included meetings with EV companies, infrastructure developers, and local stakeholders to better understand the opportunities and challenges of deploying charging infrastructure in emerging markets.

Bent is the proponent of the Universal EV Charging concept, which promotes a “keep it simple” approach to EV charging infrastructure. The concept emphasizes simplicity, availability, and price transparency, ensuring that any EV driver can access any charging point without complex digital barriers. The system supports direct payment methods including mobile money solutions such as M-Pesa and international credit cards, enabling infrastructure that is accessible to a wide range of users.

In November 2025 Bent presented these ideas at the E-Mobility and Infrastructure Africa Summit in Nairobi, where he highlighted how African markets have a unique opportunity to avoid some of the infrastructure fragmentation seen in Europe and instead build more open and interoperable charging ecosystems from the outset.

At the Nordic-Africa EV Summit in Oslo, Bent Vistisen contributes to the discussion on investment and deployment of EV charging infrastructure in Africa, bringing practical insights from European EV adoption and exploring how simple, open charging models can support the rapid expansion of electric mobility across emerging markets.
